The TCX X-Street Sneakers are reviewed by ScooterFreak.
I was looking for some boots to wear for my daily commute to work on my Vespa. I wanted to find something that would protect my ankles if I did fall, but not something too bulky or stiff, so I could still do some walking in them. After a lot of research and trying many motorcycle boots on, I decided to get the CE-certified TCX X-Street Waterproof Sneakers.
The TCX X-Street boots have a retro look and reminds me of the Converse I used to wear in my teens. They are designed in Italy and most likely with a fashion-conscious Vespa-owner in mind. I like the fact that they don’t look like riding boots at all but still give you some protection in the right places. I don’t want to look like I am wearing superhero boots when I walk into the local Starbucks, so these vintage-looking boots are just perfect.
The boots have waterproof lining and breathable leather. They are reinforced in the ankle, heel and toe and are very comfortable to wear. I like that the sole is flat and that the boots do not have a heel like many other motorcycle boots have. At first I was a little concerned about wearing boots with laces and thought they could have added some Velcro at the top to secure the laces. Now I just tuck the laces in above the tongue and have not had it come undone.
I always bring these boots along with me when I travel. They are great to bring on a trip as they don’t take up much room in the suitcase. I like to rent scooters wherever I go, and these boots are perfect to bring along on trips because they protect my feet and I can still wear them when I walk around and check out the sights.
The TCX X-Street boots are definitely not suitable for motorcyclists doing track racing and I wouldn’t feel comfortable wearing them on the highway either, however, for days where you just want to jump on and off the scooter and do some walking in between, they are ideal. I give them five out of five stars.
