Kickstand Pads for your motorcycle

Take the worry out of parking on hot asphalt or soft ground with a kickstand pad for your motorcycle.

If you like to ride and tour you know that parking when on the road can be a challenge. If you like camping with your motorcycle, you can just picture your kickstand digging into the soft earth like a heavy weighted lawn dart.  Even good asphalt can be problematic if you live in an area with blazing heat and high sun as your favourite ride can start sinking into that asphalt once it gets hot enough.

Thankfully there is a cheap and simple solution to this problem.  For around $10 you can get yourself a kickstand pad for your motorcycle that will help prevent it from sinking into soft surfaces, or if you have a fancy garage floor surface, it will keep if from getting scuffed.

One thing to keep in mind using these kickstand plates is that some are not anti slip on the bottom surface.  Use your head if parking on a surface that isn’t level.  The pads I’m showing here are inexpensive and meant to be kept in your tankbag or under the seat when not in use.

There are permanently (eBay link) that can be added to various motorcycles, but they generally cost more money.  Also be careful when ordering one of these to make sure that it is simple to fit as some motorcycles won’t accept a flat foot without causing the stand to protrude from the frame when raised.  I’ve ordered permanent flat foot attachments for my old Kawasaki Versys and my wife’s Ninja 250, but at four to five times the cost of the simple pads below, I haven’t bothered ordering one for my existing Triumph.

All of these pads essentially work the same way.  You set the base of the kickstand down onto the face of the kickstand pad.  Why I like this particular pad is that it is made in America, and it is made from lightweight weather resistant material that will last for years.

Another solid choice for riders.

This pad from KiWAV is likely the most popular on the market for motorcyclists.  It is even less expensive than the Badass one above with its only fault for me is that it isn’t marked as Made in the USA.  Overall it is a fantastic product which costs peanuts and may well prevent your bike from tipping over when parked on a soft surface.

Those work wonders here in the Florida heat and sand.

I have a length of nylon cord from a small hole drilled in the end tied to a nose gear pin tag from a 737-800 (bright red attention getting) that I can loop over my handle bars. Easy to unwind and place down without having to lean way over and with the tag you won’t ride away and forget it.

    1. Sounds like a great idea.
