Honda recall of 126,000 motorcycles

You may meet the nicest people on a Honda, but if you ride GL-1800, you might need to get your brakes inspected by the dealer.

A new Honda recall is affecting owners of 2001-2010 and 2012 GL-1800 motorcycles.  A letter explaining a potential problem with their rear brake and the resulting recall work required to identify and fix the problem is being sent by Honda to all owners.  This is the second recall for the same problem with this particular motorcycle.  The first recall occurred in December 2011.  If you own one of these motorcycles please realize that this is a new recall order for the same problem as before and don’t disregard this important notice when it arrives in the mail.

2001-2010 and 2012 Honda GL-1800 owners should expect a letter from Honda explaining the recall

Honda has apparently received 533 complaints related to an issue with the secondary master brake cylinder having a potential fault which could cause the rear brake to drag.  The resulting excess heat could cause a fire or crash.

If you own one of these motorcycles and haven’t received a letter yet, we suggest calling your local dealer for further information.

Winter’s coming time to get your ride covered!
