Featured Blog, Couple leave their jobs and ride the world on their own terms… jealous yet?

Have you ever wanted to ride in oh say, Iceland, Europe, Hawaii, India, New Zealand, and all over North America with no end in sight?  Then it’s time to visit the blog of one extremely interesting couple.

by Mark DT is a website for every rider who has dreams of leaving it all behind and just riding away must bookmark.  The site details the travels of Neda and Gene.  This couple did what many dream of but few ever risk.  They sold everything, and launched off together on their motorcycles to journey around the world with no goal posts or itineraries.  To quote from their blog:

Neda and I got our motorcycle licenses together in the spring of 2004, as an engagement present to ourselves. We thought it would be a neat thing to do.

We took day trips, hung out at motorcycle meets, rode on group rides, did track days, took longer motorcycle trips, rode dirt bikes, became motorcycle instructors, took even longer trips, and then dealt with the aftermath, the ensuing ennui of “real life” – the anchor of a home, the jobs and the bills; the maintenance of everything we’ve accumulated in our collective seven decades on earth.

So the solution seemed logical to us: quit the jobs, sell our home and everything in it, and set out on THE motorcycle journey with no route planned, no end in sight and no return date in mind.

I am very lucky to be married to a lovely lady who rides her own motorcycle.  Both my wife Anne and I really enjoy this rider blog as it is great reading about two equal partners in riding and adventure.  Gene and Neda’s website is one of the more interesting motorcycle blogs out there, detailing their travels with excellent photography and writing.  While so many of us seemed locked into the race to earn more, get a house, buy more stuff… it is really cool to see that there are people who put their dreams first, and get out there and live the lives they really want for themselves.  I strongly recommend visiting and bookmarking it.
